Good to know
Booking runs on WhatsApp. You get the full inclusions list in writing before you pay anything.
Weather. Boats do not sail in unsafe conditions, and that call belongs to the captain rather than to a booking screen. Typhoon risk on this coast peaks in July and August, and August alone averages around 280 mm of rain across 17 wet days. If a trip cannot run we contact you the evening before or first thing that morning and set out the options available that day: move to another date, switch to a land based alternative, or cancel. The exact terms for your booking are confirmed in writing before you pay.
Changing or cancelling. Message us as early as you can. The earlier we know, the more we can do, and in most cases moving your date is simpler than cancelling outright.
Visiting respectfully. Viet Hai is a working village inside a national park and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, not an exhibit. Ask before photographing people or their homes, carry your rubbish back out with you, and do not feed or chase the buffalo, they are working animals. Buying in the village itself rather than from the boat is the way to make sure the money lands here.
Common questions
No. The stretch from the pier into the village is flat and short, and anyone who can ride a bicycle at all will manage. The bikes are basic, so check the brakes before you set off and tell your guide if yours needs swapping.
Yes, we can add a homestay night. Village homestays run roughly 200,000 to 400,000 VND. It is the version of this trip almost nobody takes and the one that changes it, because the day boats leave in the afternoon and the valley goes completely quiet.
Some homestays have wifi. There is no ATM and card payment is not reliable. Bring cash in small notes.
Yes. The 14 km park trail from Trung Trang past Frog Lake drops into the valley, five to six hours, graded challenging. We run it as a trek in and sail out day for anyone who wants the harder version.
